• Woman Appeals Child Support Order for Russian Son

In April 2010, former Shelbyville, Tennessee resident, Torry Hansen sent her then, adopted Russian son back to his native land, Russia. Hansen sent Artyom Saveliev with a letter that explained his violent behavior and that she no longer wished to be his mother.

A Tennessee judge ruled in favor of the boys caregivers and awarded them $150,000 in child support. Hansen appealed the original decision citing that she has an inability to pay the $1,000 owed per month in child support. Now residing in Redding, California, Hansen reported being unemployed and having no income.
